IV Jornada de Videoarte del Escorial (Fourth El Escorial Videoart Festival)

El Escorial Videoart Festival is a microproject by Take Away Process in collaboration with Dora Román, the film school and Medinaceli Theater.  Participants include art collectives, artists, agents and intermediaries. The festival is open to the public so as to promote videoart in the Madrid surrounding area, where, we believe, the art community is isolated. 

I have been awarded a research grant for a two-week stay at the University of Alcalá. The funds will go towards the project entitled “The Female Body as a Receptacle of the Trauma of Displaced Identity in 21st Media Arts”.

"The modern, industrialised and technological city is at the centre of the attention since its birth, between the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century, since then, even if time has passed, (almost) nothing has changed from this point of view. The cultural field is still interested in taking care of the environment that surrounds us, recording on different supports what is happening."

During the week of January 28 to February 3, I had the opportunity to participate in the project for the Internationalization of Creative Cultural Industries in Matera, Italy. This five-day training project is funded by the European Commission and includes artists and creative agents from eight EU countries.

Woman Made Gallery (WMG) is proud to present the exhibition ‘Wild Cuts,’ an exploration of collage juried by Ruby T...Cutting, pasting, glitching, and bundling, the artworks in ‘Wild Cuts’ collide to produce a twisting and unstable definition of contemporary collage. 

"Numbers are used to quantify, rank, prioritize, calculate, and measure. Depending on their context, numbers can be holy, encouraging, devastating, superficial, or so commonplace they are barely noticed. Many works that feature repetition or are part of a series inherently reference numbers. The Nth Degree is a juried exhibition of work that uses numbers or mathematics. These influences can be conveyed boldly, subtly, contextually, literally, or simply as inspiration."

The exhibition “Fluctuating Identities” focuses on the flexibility of the individual that has been triggered by globalization and multiculturalism. The individual artist in this show deals with the questions about perceiving self from multiple perspectives alongside one’s identity in a new cultures and environment.

This exhibition represents stories of intimate and collective resistance in Chicago, while considering global impact.

The 2016 Twisted Oyster Experimental Film Festival seeks videos and short films that use imagery, language or themes with a poetic approach. In a world of differences poetry in moving images can be catalyst for unity, conversation and transformation. We look for excellence in cinematography, screenplay and post production.We expect the 2nd edition of our festival to be contagious and unstoppable, inventive, rich, conscious and provocative. 

Present Tense Pamphlets is a hybrid digital and print publishing platform for score-based works, edited by Mashinka Firunts and Danny Snelson. In the tradition of Charlotte Moorman’s Avant-Garde Festivals, Dick Higgins’ Great Bear Pamphlets, and La Monte Young’s An Anthology of Chance Operations, the Present Tense Pamphlets feature an expanded array of score-based practices.

"For EXPO CHICAGO 2016, SAIC alumna and artist Edra Soto (MFA 2000) continues her curatorial practice, organizing an exhibition of 25 artists from SAIC’s 2016 graduating class. This selection highlights emerging talent from Canada, China, Iran, Mexico, Spain, the US and more. In coordinating this show, Soto notes, “No matter how drastic, diverse or monitored our upbringing is, humans’ natural instincts and necessities for mating, surviving and communicating may perpetually remain.”

The design of this book is intended to reflect the social dynamics of the MFA photography program, which is a space where artists from around the world converse, collaborate, and debate. In the following pages, the artists’ works have been placed in direct conversation with each other: the question on the next page initiates a chain of questions, posed from one artist to the next, creating a call-andresponse structure that unfolds over the course of the book

The Vassar Review is a revival of the former literary arts magazine published by the faculty and students of Vassar College from 1927 to 1993, and will be released annually.In each issue, the magazine’s varied content is anchored by a theme. Conent is presented both in print and in digital format in order to include mediums that print alone cannot accommodate.

Multilingual exhibition is inspired by the power of words.

“Word” is, by definition, a single distinct conceptual unit of language, comprising inflected and variant forms.

The MFA Show is the culminating presentation of MFA candidates and an opportunity for new and ambitious work to be presented to the public. For more than six months, graduating MFA candidates work with a team of three distinguished Guest Curators and twelve Graduate Curatorial Assistants to envision the exhibition.

WTSFIM questions the distinctions of dis/connection and the un/real in an attempt to activate space through a series of aesthetic investigations. These uncanny notions of materiality illuminate the mundane in the manner of magical realism.

con·tacto is a photographic intervention of the students of the Master’s Degree in Photography and Design at ELISAVA in the facade of the Can Framis Museum of the Vila Casas Foundation, which will be exhibited from the 21st October to the 23rd December in this settlement of the Poblenou neighbourhood in Barcelona.
