The piece highlights the fuzzy boundaries between interior and the exterior, science and speculation, disease and health, touch and disconnection. Developed over approximately three summers (2021-2023), this video becomes, quite literally, a product of its time, by including layered images generated by artificial intelligence models such as StyleGan, Dalle-2, and Runway ML Gen-2. The synthetic voice by Altered reads a script written by the artist. The subtitles were created with the help of GPT-2. The sounds also incorporate hydrophone recordings from Skjálfandi Bay generously shared by oceonographer Amelie Laute from the WhaleWise organization.
